Pediatric Services

When should you begin looking for a pediatrician? Most experts say about six months into your pregnancy. If you don’t already have someone in mind, ask your obstetrician.  He or she is sure to know local pediatricians who are well respected. Also ask friends. Often they can refer you to pediatricians that have treated their own children. Gather as many names as you can and then set up interviews.

Huron Hospital asks for the name of your pediatrician before you deliver.  Barring any complications, your baby’s first examination can take place in the first 24 hours of life.  Dr. Angelique Redus-McCoy, Dr. Fyza Piracha or Dr. Michael Macknin, members of the medical staff at the Cleveland Clinic Children hospital are available to treat infants and children through their late teens (age 18).

Our Board Certified pediatricians at Huron Hospital are available to treat children from birth through their late teens. The outpatient Pediatric Department provides wellness and prevention visits and cares for the sick children, while providing education and support for the family. Regular visits to the pediatrician are a key part of preventive healthcare.

The Woman and Children’s Center, located on the third floor of the hospital, offers a newly renovated, private office setting for outpatient appointments.  A special area in the center has been set-up to accommodate young patients and their families.  For outpatient pediatrics, a nurse is available after office hours to provide advice about urgent health concerns.  In addition to pediatrics, the Women and Children’s Center offers a full range of obstetrics and gynecology services staffed by an outstanding medical team of physicians, midwives, nurses, and social workers.  A nurse is available 24-hours to provide advice about urgent health concerns.

Outpatient Pediatric Services include:
