Childbirth Education
These classes will help expectant mothers, along with fathers, siblings and grandparents, prepare for the new arrival. It is best to register by your fourth month of pregnancy.

We have a central registration line that you can call to register for your classes. The customer service representatives will be happy to give you dates, additional information and sign you up for any of our classes. We will also send you a confirmation letter prior to your class. All class fees are requested prior to your first class. Most classes are non-refundable.

Stork's Nest Program - FREE CLASS
Stork's Nest is a pregnancy, childbirth and parenting education and incentive program supported by the March of Dimes for low-income women and their partners. Program meetings are held on the third Saturday of every month at Huron Hospital from 10:30am - 1:00pm. Families attend a variety of pregnancy and parenting-related meetings to earn "shopping points," which can be used to shop for baby clothing donated to the Stork's Nest. There is no fee for this class.

"Boot Camp" for New Dads - FREE CLASS
A specially designed program for first-time fathers, taught by veteran dads. Learn how to prepare for the important role they will play with new baby and family. Fathers are able to share with other men about their experiences and concerns. New fathers get a better understanding of the physical and psychological changes the mother of the baby is experiencing. They learn about feeding, dressing and bonding with the baby. New dads feel relaxed, safe and free to ask about any subject of interest to them in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Childbirth Preparation/Lamaze Class
A six-week evening series, two-day weekend series, or one-day childbirth preparation classes are available. Each series covers information on the process of labor, pain management options, basic breathing and relaxation techniques and a tour of the labor and delivery facilities. The cost is $75 per couple.
Just the Facts Childbirth Preparation/Lamaze Class
This one-day childbirth preparation class is especially designed for families planning to deliver at Huron Hospital. This class is offered on the third Saturday of the month.

Baby Basics
For expectant and adoptive parents and grandparents. Learn about newborn abilities and reflexes; bathing, diapering, dressing and feeding; and how to establish routines. Class meets once for three hours. The cost of this class is $25 per couple.
Breastfeeding Basics
This class covers the basics of breastfeeding, getting started, returning to work and resources for assistance and information. The cost of this single-session class is $30 per couple. Private classes in Russian are available upon request.
Infant Car Seat Safety Night - FREE CLASS
Learn helpful tips on choosing and installing an infant car seat. This class meets once per month for two hours at Hillcrest Hospital.

Adult tours of the Obstetrics Unit, Level I Nursery and private rooms for labor/delivery and postpartum are scheduled by appointment.
